INFORMATION ABOUT ASSESSMENTs, PLANNING, and specialist tutoring lessons

Step 1 in the enrolment process will be conducted in a one-off 80- minute session. Results of the LAT and Dyslexia screener are available immediately, and are discussed with parents or carers upon completion. After the assessments, a program will be developed by an Educational consultant, and the virtual classroom prepared for the first tutoring lesson.

Step 2 in the enrolment process will be recurring lessons; booked in for the same day and time on a weekly basis during school terms (following NSW Term dates). Tutoring lessons are booked on a complete Term/10 week block basis , however you can enrol at any point through the Term.

Please note:

While tests and screeners do not diagnose dyslexia, the results can indicate the need for additional clinical educational assessment. If a formal diagnosis of dyslexia is sought, an assessment through an educational psychologist is recommended. The Dyslexic Clinic does not currently offer this service.

The Dyslexia screener we offer makes use of technology developed by Dystech to assess the likelihood of dyslexia. This evidence-based screener takes 10 minutes to administer, provides an accurate score for multiple reading measurements, and can assist in determining if a formal dyslexia assessment is recommended.

Dystech also provide a reading and writing assessment and phonological awareness assessment that helps you understand what areas your child is struggling with, and can be used to advocate for support at your child’s school. Please contact us if you would like more information or to book in for an assessment.
